Press Release: April in Museum Kampa
The successful exhibition of Dalibor Chatrný: By Rope and Magnet has been extended until May 10, 2009. This exhibition inspired children from elementary and high schools, who attended our interactive programs and learned how to do a so called “magnetic drawing”, one of Chatrný’s favorite experimental methods. These works are now part of an exhibition of children and student art, called Chatrný Revival, which is currently being presented in the Small gallery of Museum Kampa.
Beginning April 22, 2009 a new exhibition of one of the most important Czech conceptual artists, Václav Cigler, will be open to public. The exhibition called Meeting Places will present five leading principles of contemporary work by this potent artist: space, water, light and the human being. This unique installation will be made to measure for the premises of Museum Kampa. One of the reasons for the timing of this exhibition is the upcoming jubilee of the artist: the opening of this exhibition is also the date of Vaclav Cigler’s 80 th birthday!
We are expecting an important visit by the Washington-based director of the International Arts & Artists company, Mr. David Furchgott, who will present his lecture on “Sculpture Parks around the World and at Kampa” on April 16, 2009 from 7pm. After the lecture Mrs. Meda Mladek, the founder of Museum Kampa, will present her project of creating a sculpture park on the Kampa Island. The lecture will be followed by a public discussion.
During the whole year we are offer education programs and workshops for families with children, school groups and the broad public. You can for e.g. come to Museum Kampa to make your own “magnetic drawing” inspired by Dalibor Chatrný or visit our interactive program which will accompany the exhibition of Václav Cigler.
