Free tours of Prague to celebrate International Tourist Guide Day

16.2.2019 — On the 23rd of February 2019, the Czech Republic Guides Association will offer free guided tours to celebrate the International Tourist Guide Day. The International Tourist Guide Day is held annually on the 21st of February since 1985. Because the 21st is a Thursday, tour guides in most places decided to give free guided tours on Friday the 22nd or Saturday the 23rd of February. The event will take place throughout the Czech Republic. In Prague, tourists will have a choice between two guided tours.

19.2.2024 — Rada hl. m. Prahy schválila poskytnutí 22 milionů korun na zajištění marketingových kampaní na podporu příjezdového cestovního ruchu. Za tyto finance zajistí organizace Prague City Tourism různé kampaně a další navazující propagaci, která si klade za cíl přilákat do metropole turisty nejen ze zahraničí, ale i různých částí České republiky. Dva miliony korun jsou určeny přímo na připomenutí 100. výročí úmrtí Franze Kafky a výročí 200 let od narození Bedřicha Smetany.

16.1.2019 — From the 15th to the 20th of January, Prague cinemas present a festival, which introduces some of the best current Iranian films. The festival, simply called 'Írán:ci' (Iranians), features films projected with English subtitles. It opens on the 15th of January at 8pm in the Lucerna cinema, with a dark comedy 'Pig', one of the most successful Iranian movies of the year. The director Mani Haghighi, whose movies 'About Elly' and 'Dragon Arrives!' were successful in previous years of the festival, will introduce the film.

Prague City Council approve Negrelli Viaduct renovations

29.6.2019 — The extensive reconstruction of the Negrelli Viaduct, the second oldest bridge in Prague, will be followed by the transformation of the bridge's surrounding area, including the space beneath it. According to the proposal recently approved by Prague City Council, a new creative space with cafes, a library, and/or a summer theatre space could be developed under the viaduct.

2.8.2021 — Rada hl. m. Prahy v pondělí schválila žádost o individuální účelovou neinvestiční dotaci na sportovně kulturní akci Mistrovství Evropy - Prague Open Dance Festival 2021. Konkrétně se jedná o částku 200 tisíc korun, která bude hrazena z rozpočtu hlavního města Prahy.

3.6.2014 — Vytříbeně a s originalitou se rozloučí jeden z klíčových orchestrů české hudební scény, PKF – Prague Philharmonia, se svou jubilejní 20. koncertní sezonou. Celebrations for giraffes and elephants in Prague Zoo

20.6.2020 — The weekend of the 21st and the 22nd of June will be dedicated to large African mammals in Prague Zoo. World Giraffe Day celebrations and a baby elephant christening will take place here. World Giraffe Day falls on the 21st of June, the longest day of the year, but it will be celebrated in Prague Zoo on Saturday, the 20th of June, this year. The Giraffe Conservation Foundation, who announced this day, protects and monitors these incredible mammals in the wild. Zoos celebrate giraffes on this day all around the world.

Procedures for homeless people this winter

30.11.2019 — Actions to help homeless people survive the freezing weather are starting to take place in Prague this winter. Unlike in previous years, the city is allowing people with dogs to stay warm at night, whereas they were previously refused in dormitories. There are also more facilities available for those with health issues. The municipal police are taking part in the winter measures along with the social services.
