29.6.2017 — Konto Bariéry ukončilo třetí ročník charitativního běhu Run and Help, neboli Běhání, které pomáhá. Do projektu se v roce 2017 zapojilo 70 skupin z celé České republiky. Běhaly mateřské, základní a střední školy, ale i firmy či party kamarádů. Celkový výtěžek překonal loňský rekord. Vybralo se přes 1,3 milionu korun pro děti s handicapem.

Volunteers help families with children with special needs

10.4.2020 — The number of volunteers who have registered at the Czech Red Cross tents in Mariánské Square continues to increase. A total of 3,164 volunteers had registered by the 8th of April. Prague is now able to expand its offer of help to families who have children with special needs. As services for them are now limited and special schools are closed, the situation is more challenging than before.

Help Prague Zoo during the coronavirus pandemic

16.10.2020 — As a result of the further government regulations in relation to the coronavirus pandemic, Prague Zoo in Troja has had to close again. The zoo currently expects to close for 17 days, which means a big loss for the zoo. How can you help? Although Prague Zoo is largely funded by Prague City Hall, its resources are limited. Therefore, the zoo is asking the public for help.

19.9.2023 — Tříletá Verunka trpící vzácným nervosvalovým onemocněním obdržela dnes od vedení hlavního města šek s finanční pomocí. Na pomoc Verunce přispívali zaměstnanci Magistrátu hl. m. Prahy v rámci charitativní akce Run and Help, celkem přispěli 56 961 korun.

Robots from Taiwan to Be Used in Teaching at Prague schools

27.1.2021 — Thanks to cooperation between Prague and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, the first technological aids from Taiwan will arrive at Prague schools this week. Robots will help in lessons for lower grades at the grammar school in Čakovice, while spectrum analysers will be utilised at the Secondary Industrial School of Electrical Engineering in Ječná. This is the pilot phase of joint projects that Prague is preparing in cooperation with Taiwan. Cooperation projects in the field of education are being prepared, with their implementation planned for this year. These include digitisation in the field of children's education, IT innovation and climate change awareness.

Procedures for homeless people this winter

30.11.2019 — Actions to help homeless people survive the freezing weather are starting to take place in Prague this winter. Unlike in previous years, the city is allowing people with dogs to stay warm at night, whereas they were previously refused in dormitories. There are also more facilities available for those with health issues. The municipal police are taking part in the winter measures along with the social services.

Prague adds QR codes to public lamppost identification signs

28.6.2020 — Prague City Technology has been adding QR codes to the metal identification tags on public lighting, which will make it easier to report a lighting issue or an illegal advertisement. The codes will help emergency workers, as well as residents and tourists, navigate Prague.

8.5.2020 — Hana Třeštíková, Prague Councillor for Culture and Tourism, will propose another measure to support culture in the Czech capital to Prague City Council. This time, the financial help will be used to support the visual arts.

Prague Zoo starts a collection to help Australian fauna

14.1.2020 — On Monday, the 6th of January, Prague Zoo announced that they have started a collection to help the Australian fauna threatened by fires. Over one million CZK has already been collected. 160,000 CZK of this, which comes from the "Three Crowns of Entry Fee" project, has already headed to the Bushfire Emergency Wildlife Fund managed by Zoos Victoria, after being approved by Prague City Council on the 10th of January.

Prague Invites Spectators Back into Theatres Through Virtual Reality

31.3.2021 — Prague City Hall, together with the Brainz Studios creative group, has today presented the globally unique service called Brejlando. It will offer experimental theatre experiences to its spectators in virtual reality (VR). With the help of state-of-the-art technologies and borrowed VR glasses, everyone can immerse in watching selected performances from Prague theatres from the comfort of their homes, as well as from a completely new angle - right from the stage, in close vicinity to the actors. The service is intended to help theatres and their fans overcome these difficult times of limited operation. However, at the same time, the initiators believe that they are establishing a new international trend that can become a permanent part of the theatres' offer.

28.10.2020 — Prague Planetarium and the Štefánik Observatory commence another two-year course in astronomy. Those who complete the course successfully will have an opportunity to work in the Astronomy Club of the Štefánik Observatory. The two-year astronomical course has been held for over 50 years and offers the participants basic knowledge of modern astronomy along with knowledge of the night sky and the basics of working with astronomical instruments.

‘Culture at Home’ offers content in one place

Support Czech culture by buying ‘Nothing’ tickets

7.4.2020 — A nationwide project to support theatres, concert halls, clubs and artists has been launched. 'NIC' tickets have been on sale since the 1st of April. 'Nic' means 'nothing' in Czech and that is the aim of this project - as cultural events cannot take place, cultural institutions and artists need your support. According to Hana Třeštíková, Prague City Councillor for Culture, Czech people are inventive, so instead of simply asking for donations, they came up with a plan to sell tickets for 'non-existing' cultural events, which will (not) take place on the 1st of May.

23.8.2007 — Humanitární organizace Hand for Help, o.p.s Liberec se rozhodla poskytnout pomoc oblastem postiženým přírodní katastrofou, která svým dopadem předčí mimo jiné i katastrofální tsunami na Srí Lance, kde se humanitární pomoci účastnila i skupina vyslaná touto organizací. Ničivá povodeň do Asie přišla na den přesně 5 let poté, kdy i Čechy potkala tato hrůzná zkušenost. Pět let před tím obdobnou zkušenost učinily i města a obce a jejich obyvatelé na Moravě. O katastrofě v Indii a Bangladéši se v naší republice doposud moc nemluvilo, snad právě proto si zaslouží pozornost a nutnost pomoci potřebným.

TSK announced public contracts for the restoration of Prague´s Libeň bridge

27.10.2020 — Technická správa komunikací hl. m. Prahy (TSK) announced two public contracts for the restoration of Prague's Libeň Bridge, management of the construction and coordination of the entire project. The aim of the first contract is to select a supplier of the construction works and related design and engineering services. The selection process will be carried out in accordance with the FIDIC - Yellow Book conditions (Design & Build project type). The second public contract aims to find a suitable construction manager and project coordinator.
