Jazz Photo Exhibition Comes to Prague

The American Center in Prague will host the Jazz World Photo exhibition until the 30th of April 2019.

The exhibition includes 30 of the best photos from the Jazz World Photo competition and a selection of the best pictures from jazz photographers.

The Jazz World Photo competition began in 2013 in Trutnov in the Czech Republic, when the organisers of the international festival Jazzinec acquired photos from around the world as part of an exhibition accompanying the festival. From there, it was just a small step for the project to become a competition with an international jury, with an exhibition for the winning photographs. And then it began to travel throughout the Czech Republic and abroad.

Exploring the world

This contest attracts global attention, and so the number of entries and their quality increases. Every year, photos of musicians come to Trutnov from countries all over the world, including Australia, Ecuador, South Korea, Venezuela, Malaysia, USA, and other places. The thirty best shots usually travel to ten to twelve cities. The images are displayed not only in galleries in the Czech Republic, but also in Slovakia and Belgium. The exhibition has also travelled to Italy and Manhattan in New York.

Enjoy a mini jazz concert in your head!

As usual, the Jazz World Photo exhibition will not only show jazz masters on stage, but will also give you a backstage pass through the camera’s lens. You will see photographs of the most renowned jazz musicians. Don't miss this unique exhibition. The photos at the competition are almost magical. As the founders of this unique event say: Almost every shot can show a small jazz concert in your head!
