Prague international streetball tournament is back in Wenceslas Square!

Unlike previous years, this year’s tournament is a one-day event. The tournament is a part of FIBA ​​3x3 World Tour and the winner of the Prague tournament will qualify for the Ghetto Basket Riga Challenger in Latvia. From there, the winning team may even have the chance to progress to the World Final in Utsunomiya, Japan.

Twelve teams from the Czech Republic and abroad

The list of participating teams both from the Czech Republic and abroad is very interesting. The twelve men’s teams will be made up of the first three teams from the Czech Streetball Cup 2018, eight foreign teams, and one team will be granted a wild card slot by Igor Bayer, the president of Czech Streetball Federation.

Skills competitions

There will also be two skills competitions: the Slam Dunk Battle for Europe with a prize of €500 and the 3-pointer competition.

Battle for prize money

“Teams and individuals will battle for prize money. The winner of the tournament will receive €2000, €1000 for second place and €500 for third place. The winner of the slam dunk competition can look forward to a €500 check. There will also be a 3-pointer competition. The iconic Mc Kayak will be the commentator for the tournament,” Ladislav Faltin, PR manager of Czech Streetball Federation, said for praha.eu. Come and see the tournament, it will certainly be an adrenalin-filled show.

ABOUT STREETBALL

Streetball is an urban type of basketball that is played in playgrounds and gyms all around the world. Usually, only one side of the basketball court is used and the rules of the game are very similar to those of professional basketball. The game can be played one-on-one, or in teams up to five-a-side.
