Premium canoe slalom race in Prague

The ICF World Ranking Race will take place in Prague Troja on the 3rd and 4th of August. In addition to the many successful athletes who will be taking part, you can also look forward to a rich accompanying programme. The ICF World Ranking Race returns to Prague after a very successful first year, and Prague Troja will host the world-class slalom races once again.

The ICG World Ranking Race is not a part of either the Czech Championship or the World Czech Championship, but a separate international race full of world stars.

Race for all

This time, anyone who is registered with the Czech Canoe Union (‘Český svaz kanoistů’), or another International Canoe Federation, will be able to take a part in the race and compete with the top racers. Just log in, pick up your number on Friday, get your boat and paddle ready, and come to the qualifiers on Saturday.

But beware: canoe slalom is not just for fun. It is a challenging water sport, where speed, strength and mental resistance are necessary. The aim is to go down a wild river or an artificial slalom channel through gates that are positioned in order to challenge the racers’ abilities.

Obstacles

There are 18 – 25 gates in a course. Racers must pass through all these gates in the right order and without touching them, otherwise they will be penalised. The colour of the gates defines how they need to be passed through - green are downstream and red are upstream. The gates are not the only obstacles, and the strength and speed of the water can also play a decisive role.
