Prague Audiovisual Fund
Prague is the traditional centre of the Czech film industry and a favourite destination for foreign film crews. By founding the Prague Audiovisual Fund, the city wants to actively support the presentation of the City of Prague abroad through film and television productions.
The endowment fund will be able to provide funding both for feature films intended for foreign distribution in cinemas and for television films and series broadcast on foreign TV stations. The crucial condition is that Prague represent the real City of Prague in the project being filmed.
The endowment fund's Administrative Board will decide on allocation of funds. It is made up of representatives of film institutions, film industry professionals, experts in the field of tourism and marketing, and representatives of City of Prague elected bodies.
In 2022, the fund was renamed as the Prague Audiovisual Endowment Fund.
The following will be the main criteria in evaluating projects:
- the importance of the City of Prague in the work
- how the City of Prague is depicted in the work – based on the script
- the number of planned shooting days at locations in Prague
- the value of the Prague motifs/specific sites (in terms of tourism, marketing, culture, history, architecture)
- the marketing potential of the project (in terms of the tourism industry)
- the potential for using the presentation of Prague in media activities related to the work
- the positive benefit for presentation of Prague in terms of the topic and role of Prague in the work
